I was taken aback when my mom in law first mentioned to me "you don't have to throw this away, make a thuvaiyal (chutney)"! i was like !!!!what with the peels...and she adds saying " you can make chips out of it!" and I was amazed!
But this is completely delicious and you have to trust me on that!
You need
Ridgegourd/peerkanga peels 1 bowl full
White lentils/urad dal 2 tablespoons
Garlic pods 3nos
Dried Red chillies 2
Tamarind gooseberry size
Salt to taste
Oil 2 tablespoons

- Fry each of the above ingredients in oil until brown and keep aside.
- Let it all cool down and then grind to a thick paste adding required water.

- Serve the thuvaiyal/chutney with steamed rice and rasam, lime rice or chapatis.
